INDYCAR announces expanded Canadian television coverage – “Sportsnet’s multiplatform coverage of the 2020 NTT INDYCAR SERIES season is revving up, delivering Canadians a robust schedule of the biggest events and more than 160 hours of racing coverage on Sportsnet 360, Sportsnet World and livestreaming on Sportsnet NOW+. This season, Sportsnet 360 will be the home of INDYCAR in Canada, airing 10 of the season’s premier races, including the Honda Indy Toronto. The season begins March 13-15 with the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg on the city streets of St. Petersburg, Fla. HMD adds Serravalle to ’20 Lights program with initial five weekend deal – “With the start of the 2020 Indy Lights Presented by Cooper Tires Championship season quickly approaching, HMD Motorsports has added a third driver to their growing lineup. 17-year-old Canadian standout Antonio Serravalle, one of Canada’s top prospects for a bright career in the NTT IndyCar Series, will be moving up the Road to Indy ladder system and will pilot the Ferrari & Associates / Tycoon Capital #11 HMD Motorsports entry. With plans to compete in five weekends, Serravalle will be joining HMD Motorsports at upcoming tests at Barber Motorsports Park and the series sanctioned Spring Training test at the Homestead-Miami Speedway. NBC adds Hinch to 2020 broadcast team – “Current INDYCAR driver for Andretti Autosport and fan-favorite James Hinchcliffe has joined NBC Sports as a motorsports analyst for 2020. He will serve as a driver analyst for a majority of NBC Sports’ 2020 INDYCAR race coverage, providing reports from pit road and will make his debut at the season-opener in St. Petersburg, Fla., the weekend of March 13-15. Hinchcliffe’s on-air schedule will include the Grand Prix of Long Beach on the streets of Long Beach, Calif.; his home race, the Honda Indy Toronto on the streets of Toronto; and the season finale at Laguna Seca in Monterey, Calif. RLL announces Citrone/Buhl Autosport partnership with Pigot for IMS races – “Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing (RLL) announced today that Spencer Pigot, who made three starts for the team in 2016, will return to RLL in 2020 for the GMR Grand Prix on May 9 and the Indianapolis 500 on May 24 in a Honda-powered car entered by Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing with Citrone/Buhl Autosport (CBA). CBA was formed in early 2020 by former Indy car driver Robbie Buhl and his brother and business partner Tom, and Robert Citrone, founder of Discovery Capital Management and the largest minority owner of the Pittsburgh Steelers, and his son Nick, a Data Analytics Coordinator for the Pittsburgh Penguins NHL team. Arrow McLaren SP announces Indy 500 deal for Alonso – “Arrow McLaren SP and Fernando Alonso will join forces with title partner Ruoff Mortgage to compete this year in the 104th Running of the Indianapolis 500, the team announced today. The Spaniard will join Arrow McLaren SP drivers Oliver Askew and Pato O’Ward as the team fields three cars in a blend of youth and experience at the iconic event. Alonso, a double Formula 1 World Champion, World Endurance Champion, twice winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans and winner of the 24 Hours of Daytona, will compete in his third Month of May this year, driving the No. 66 Ruoff Mortgage Arrow McLaren SP Chevrolet and returning to continue his quest for motorsport’s elusive and prestigious “Triple Crown”. Citrone/Buhl Autosport team formed with goal to compete in ’20 IMS races – “A new racing team has been formed to participate in the NTT IndyCar Series. Citrone/Buhl Autosport was formed by two groups passionate about racing and intent on entering a competitive car into the Indianapolis 500. Formed in early 2020, the team plans to make its first appearance on the grid at the Indianapolis Grand Prix on May 9th. Citrone/Buhl Autosport is a partnership between Robert and Nick Citrone and Tom and Robbie Buhl. McLaughlin’s Supercars co-owner says this is his last year in the series – DJR Team Penske co-owner Dick Johnson has told New Zealand media he expects this year to be Scott McLaughlin’s last season in Supercars. “It’s pretty obvious that he will be gone next year,” Johnson told the Daily Telegraph. “We’ve just got to make the most of him in this year’s championship because he’s obviously US-bound.” Full story at the link. – Stuff – (2/20/2020)

Andretti announces Hinch will race No. 29 at both IMS races and Texas – “For James Hinchcliffe the 2020 Month of May marks a bit of a homecoming as the Canadian driver returns to Andretti Autosport, the team with which he celebrated his first INDYCAR® SERIES victory in 2013. Andretti confirms Megennis return for ’20 Lights program – “Andretti Autosport announced today that Robert Megennis will return to pilot the No. 27 entry for the championship-winning team for the 2020 Indy Lights Presented by Cooper Tires season. Four rookies complete successful oval test at Texas – RACER’s Marshall Pruett has a nice report from NTT INDYCAR SERIES rookie oval testing at Texas Motor Speedway last Friday. Oliver Askew, Scott McLaughlin, Alex Palou, and Rinus VeeKay were the rookies involved in the test while veterans Josef Newgarden and Ed Carpenter helped shake down their teammates’ machines. COTA open test Tuesday and Wednesday – “Twenty-seven drivers in 25 cars are anticipated to converge on the Circuit of The Americas layout in Austin, Texas, for a full-field open test Tuesday and Wednesday as the start of the 2020 NTT INDYCAR SERIES season looms just over a month away. This event marks the first full-field test of the new year and should prove beneficial to the drivers and teams when they return to COTA on April 24-26 for the AutoNation INDYCAR Challenge. The 17-race NTT INDYCAR SERIES season opens March 13-15 with the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg on the city streets of St. Petersburg, Fla. Penske confirms Helio not in currents plans for GMR Grand Prix – Team Penske tweeted their four-car driver lineup for both races at Indianapolis Motor Speedway this May and Helio Castroneves was only on the list for the 104th Running of the Indianapolis 500 Mile Race. Foyt announces Bourdais and Kellett in partial season deals for No. 14 – “Four-time Champ Car Series champion Sebastien Bourdais and Canadian rookie Dalton Kellett complete the driver roster for the No. 14 AJ Foyt Racing Chevrolet. IMS produces Super Bowl commercial for regional audience – “The Super Bowl is a fixture of the first weekend of February in America, but Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge fans also will get “That May Feeling” through a television advertisement for “The Greatest Spectacle in Racing” during the telecast of the game Sunday, Feb. 2, featuring past winners of the race and an American sports broadcasting icon. Report: Honda nixes Alonso/Andretti deal – RACER’s Chris Medland and Marshall Pruett report Honda has nixed Andretti Autosport and Fernando Alonso’s potential deal for the Spaniard to drive for the team in the 104th Running of the Indianapolis 500 Mile Race. Kanaan announces 2020 season with Foyt on ovals will be his last – “(Tony) Kanaan, an Indy 500 winner and 2004 series champion, announced that the upcoming 2020 NTT INDYCAR SERIES season will be his final as a primary driver. Kanaan is set to compete in the five oval races of the NTT INDYCAR Series season driving the No. 14 Chevrolet for AJ Foyt Racing. He is scheduled to begin his final campaign which will be called the “TK Last Lap,” with the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge on Sunday, May 24. Kanaan will then run Saturday night races at Texas Motor Speedway (June 6), Richmond Raceway (June 27), Iowa Speedway (July 18) and World Wide Technology Raceway at Gateway (Aug. 22) to close out his final season. IMS unveils ticket for 104th Indy 500 – “When Simon Pagenaud unveiled the ticket for the 104th Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge, he savored a snapshot of the pinnacle of his racing career and one of the greatest memories of his life. The ticket features a profile photograph of Pagenaud drinking the traditional winner’s bottle of milk in triumph after earning his first victory in “The Greatest Spectacle in Racing” last May 26. That image also signaled the start of a personal transformation for Pagenaud.
